5 Fall Mood Boards
Fall doesn't begin until September 22, but that doesn't mean we can't search for inspiration.
Fall is a time of transition. The days become shorter and temperatures cool. Nature’s bright summer colors are replaced with deep red, yellow, and orange hues. Acorns fall while leaves shed. Animals gather food. Farmers harvest corn, squashes, wheat, and many nourishing crops. Families come together to celebrate traditions. There is no shortage of things to do!
What comes to mind when you think of fall?
For me, this magical period from September to December invites rest and reflection. My pace of life gradually slows, and I make an honest effort to live moment by moment. I collect ingredients, huddle in my kitchen, and bake up a storm. Warming spices, crisp apples, and delectable caramel… These are some of the flavors I cherish most!
As the leaves change color, I enjoy bundling up in a cozy sweater and venturing outside. Hikes and harvest festivals are always refreshing for the soul. Sometimes, I’ll even carry my Canon AE-1 Program. (You never know when you’ll catch a magical moment!)
By a long day’s end, you’ll probably find me lounging around a warm hearth with a hot tea and a book.
Some artists view fall as their busiest season. Others accept less work, so they can reassess their goals and make great strides in the new year.
I think it’s best to find a balance and open yourself to inspiration! One small step can trigger a brilliant chain reaction. What do I mean by this? It could be as simple as:
Go on a solo date to the popular coffee shop down the street. You could find a peaceful corner, put on your headphones, and start checking off to-do’s. Or you might strike up an authentic conversation with the barista or another patron!
Accept your friend’s invitation to the neighborhood farmer’s market. You both could sample goods, meet artisans, ask questions, and learn something new.
Leave the world behind and go on a weekend retreat. Without the distraction of technology, our brains have room to focus on what’s in front of us in the present. Sometimes, a blank notebook and a change of scenery help us get back in the flow.

Growth requires space! Fall is the perfect time to clear out those cluttered “rooms” in your mind and embrace change.
As humans, we’re not meant to stay in the same place. Experimentation leads to evolution.
Don’t be afraid to try something unexpected. Go to the museum, watch the film, listen to the record, test the recipe… Surprise yourself and unlock creativity.
